The Therapists

I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the BCCSW.  This regulatory body establishes, monitors, and supports standards of practice and a code of ethics. They superintend the practice of social work through entry to practice standards, exams, establishment and reinforcement of regulations, mandatory continuing professional development program and processing complaints against RSW(s).

Master Theraputic Counsellors (MTC) meet the advanced skills criteria of development beyond entry-to-practice. The Task Group for Counsellor Regulation Competency Profile describes this as follows: “The therapist working at an advanced level has extensive experience and exhibits a nuanced understanding of clinical situations. Decision-making and treatment flow more effectively because the therapist readily perceives which aspects of a presenting situation are the important ones, and how they should be addressed. The therapist working at an advanced level deals effectively with most unusual, difficult to resolve and complex situations.” 

 Our members carry the designation Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). This designation demonstrates that our members have met specific educational and training criteria required by the BCACC. What’s more, our RCCs have not only met rigorous academic, clinical competence and professional requirements, they have voluntarily committed to practice according to our ethical code of conduct and standards of practice.

 An EMDR Certified Therapist has opted to meet standards of excellence in the field of EMDR therapy, measured by consultation, clinical practice, and continuing education.  To maintain this certification, a therapist must continue to satisfy the EMDRIA requirement including completion of continuing education requirements and adherence to ethical standards. 

 EMDR Canada is dedicated to establishing, maintaining, and promoting the highest standards of excellence and integrity in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy practice, research and education.  

  Membership in BCASW creates a synergy that strengthens the voice of social workers, supports their practice and builds a solid foundation for advocacy and social action. They provide information and support to social workers, leadership in professional and social advocacy and outstanding professional development opportunities. 

CASW exists so that the social work profession is respected as a unique, diverse, and credible profession, in Canada and Internationally.

This association supports Clinical Counsellors in the practice of  Contextual Behavioral Therapy such as Acceptance and Committment Therapy (ACT). It is based on a pragmatic worldview known as functional contextualism. It grows from behavioural analysis in its methodology and assumptions . It  Is committed to developing basic behavioural accounts of complex behaviours. It aims to apply these advances in the alleviation human suffering and the advancement of human well-being.

 When you see this seal, it means Psychology Today has verified the following:

The name and contact details of the professional

That the professional's credentials are valid (i.e. a license, membership in accredited professional body, or relevant training and experience)

That the professional is not subject to any license strictures preventing practice
