I have a Bachelor and Master Degree in Social Work from UBC and over 24 years of experience helping people with mental health, addictions, trauma, and relationship issues in a variety of health care, community, and social service settings. I am registered in British Columbia as a Social Worker (RSW) and in Canada as a Master Therapeutic Counsellor (MTC).
I am the founder and lead clinician of The Life Balance and a proud member of the Trauma Counselling Team at Dr. Gordon Davidson Operational Stress & Recovery Program. Previous to this, I was the Clinical Supervisor and Instructor with UBC Okanagan School of Social Work at the Interdisciplinary Mental Health Clinic and the Interior Health Clinical Operations Manager for Mental Health and Substance Use Services in the North Okanagan.
I live, work and play in Vernon British Columbia and the traditional and unceded territories of the Syilx, Secwepemc Okanagan peoples.
When you come in for counselling support, I start by creating a relaxed atmosphere where you feel safe and are reassured that you've found someone who can help you truly face the issues you are experiencing. Sometimes, traumas from the past or the stress of current life can be overwhelming and your world becomes very narrow.

As your counsellor, I am committed to providing you with the necessary tools and techniques to overcome life's obstacles and achieve a balanced fulfilling life.

I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the BCCSW. This regulatory body establishes, monitors, and supports standards of practice and a code of ethics. They superintend the practice of social work through entry to practice standards, exams, establishment and reinforcement of regulations, mandatory continuing professional development program and processing complaints against RSW(s).
Master Theraputic Counsellors (MTC) meet the advanced skills criteria of development beyond entry-to-practice. The Task Group for Counsellor Regulation Competency Profile describes this as follows: “The therapist working at an advanced level has extensive experience and exhibits a nuanced understanding of clinical situations. Decision-making and treatment flow more effectively because the therapist readily perceives which aspects of a presenting situation are the important ones, and how they should be addressed. The therapist working at an advanced level deals effectively with most unusual, difficult to resolve and complex situations.”
